Moms Fundraising to Pay Meal Debt for ISS Schools

Last Updated 6/1/2023Posted in News

We're Jean and Emily and we're fundraising to pay off the ISS meal debt for the district. We've been on tv and in newspapers telling the story of how families in our district are struggling to pay for school lunches and that has resulted in a $50,000+ debt for our 38 schools. By law, at the end of the year, the principals in the schools are required to come up with whatever money is owed by their school. For some schools, this year, that's in the thousands of dollars! The debt is much greater this year due to changes in federal funding.

We aren't affiliated with the school, but as parents, we want to be able to bring Iredell County together to pay off this debt that burdens so many. So we have a CHALLENGE for Statesville businesses! Would you be willing to share this with your chamber businesses so that before school is out on June 9th, we can celebrate reaching this goal?

We want to challenge businesses throughout the Iredell-Statesville School area to donate and help us to pay off this debt. We know that together we can make this happen for our students and school administrators.

We are using a platform called AngeLink to fundraise. They don't take anything from our fundraiser. What's donated to us we receive, minus the credit card processing fee which they can't control. We can accept checks too if that's easier for a business.

Would you be willing to help us and email the chamber members and challenge them to help us? This can be an easy and amazing community project that we could all celebrate together.

Please let us know of any questions you have and THANK YOU!
