"Hello! I’m Danny Carpenter and I joined the American Renaissance School {ARS} Board of Directors in October 2018. My wife Julie and I moved to downtown Statesville 20 years ago while I worked in private sector at a corporate office in Mooresville. In 2013, I joined higher education at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College where I currently serve as their executive director of planning and capital projects. I hold a B.S. Degree in Business Management from Gardner-Webb University and an A.S.S. Degree in Architectural Technology from New River Community College. We have one daughter, Danielle, who attends American Renaissance School."

What does you like best about ARS?

"American Renaissance School is a unique and engaging educational experience built upon the relationships between all the stakeholders - the students, the parents, the teachers, and the administration. My first impression of ARS as a visitor is the same impression even today at every visit- warm, welcoming, inviting, engaging, belonging. The partnership with local businesses is a remarkable model and provide wonderful opportunities for the students to experience the community."

ARS Board of Directors:

Public charter schools are different from traditional public schools in a number of important ways. One of the main differences between public charter schools and traditional public schools is in the way governance is structured. Unlike traditional public schools, public charter schools are governed and operated by the Board of a private non-profit corporation. Board members are recruited or elected volunteers that are responsible for governance, budgeting, fiscal oversight, curriculum, operating procedures and strategic planning at the school, among other responsibilities. The Board holds the school's charter, receives grants and funding, and is responsible for sound administration and oversight. The Board works closely with the Executive Director and has a direct impact on the ultimate success of the school.
