Fiber Optic Installation Planned in the Oakland Heights Area

The City of Statesville has approved a Right-of-Way Encroachment Permit for Ripple Fiber to install underground fiber optic conduit and cable as part of the Oakland Heights Fiber Installation Project.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday, August 10, 2026, and is expected to continue through August 30, 2026, weather and conditions permitting.

Residents may notice construction activity along the following streets: Mitchell Avenue, Glendale Drive, North Oakland Avenue, Ridgeway Avenue, Summit Avenue, Hendrick Drive, North Center Street, Gregory Road, Gregory Lane, Starmount Drive, Hempstead Place, Wedgewood Road, Kenilworth Road, Armstrong Street, Bowen Drive, Colony Road, Dunavant Lane and Elizabeth Avenue.

During construction, residents and motorists may notice utility locate markings, construction crews and equipment working in the public right-of-way, directional boring operations and occasional lane shifts or brief traffic delays. Short-term access impacts may occur near active work zones.

Carolina Lighthouse will perform the work as a subcontractor for Ripple Fiber. Disturbed areas will be restored following the completion of the project.
