Update: Lerain Court Reopened Following Emergency Stormwater Repair
The emergency stormwater repair on Lerain Court has been completed, and the road has reopened to traffic. The City of Statesville Stormwater Division will begin an emergency stormwater repair on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, to address a sinkhole in the 1300 block of Lerain Court.
The sinkhole was recently discovered and requires immediate repairs to prevent further damage to the roadway. Crews will excavate the area to access a reinforced concrete stormwater pipe beneath the road and repair a separated pipe joint. During the repair, the road will be closed in the work area, and access to Harris Park will be impacted. The closure is expected to remain in place through Friday, August 7, weather permitting.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes whenever possible. Residents and park visitors should plan for limited access while crews complete the repair.
