Operation Safe Driver Week (July 12-18, 2026)

Unsafe driving behaviors such as aggressive driving, following too closely, improper lane changes, failing to wear a seat belt, and driving under the influence contribute to preventable crashes every day.

During Operation Safe Driver Week, the Statesville Police Department encourages everyone to do their part by obeying speed limits, staying focused, driving defensively, buckling up, never drinking and driving, and sharing the road safely.

School Supply Drive (thru July 24, 2026)

We are once again rallying the community to help local students start the school year prepared and ready to learn. Residents are asked to donate school supplies at collection sites throughout the city until July 24, 2026.  Donations will support our annual backpack giveaway during the Statesville Heritage Festival on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Statesville Event Center. Learn more here.

Summer Youth Sports & Fitness Opportunities

From team sports and summer camps to tennis, pickleball, and youth fitness programs, Statesville Recreation & Economic Vitality (REV) offers a wide variety of opportunities to help young athletes stay active, build confidence, and develop new skills this summer! Select one or all of the programs below to learn more:

Youth Tennis: Unlock their tennis potential with year-round youth tennis! Monthly group tennis lessons are the perfect way to dive into the world of tennis or enhance your existing skills. Registering now for August sessions.

Youth Fit: Welcome to our introductory fitness class designed exclusively for ages 11-13! We understand the importance of instilling healthy habits from a young age, and our 'Youth Fit' Program aims to do just that. What sets our program apart is that upon successful completion of the course, participants gain access to our Statesville Recreation Center, even if they don't meet the age requirements. Registering now for August courses.

Stage D2 Extreme Drought Continues; Water Restrictions still in Effect

The City of Statesville has reduced its water shortage response level to Stage 2 following improved drought conditions and guidance from state drought officials. Read more here.
