Heritage Festival, Saturday, August 1st
Celebrating America 250 through Stories, Culture, and Community
The Statesville Heritage Festival, presented by the City Of Statesville, is a community celebration that brings people together through culture, history, food, music, storytelling, and shared experiences.
Join us this Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the Statesville Event Center from 10a-4p!
As part of the nationwide America 250 commemoration, this festival honors the many people, traditions, and contributions that have shaped both our nation and our local community. Throughout the day, visitors will have opportunities to explore cultural exhibits, enjoy live entertainment, participate in hands-on activities, connect with local organizations, and learn about the stories that make Statesville unique. Bookbag Giveaway, Saturday, August 1st
Our annual Bookbag Giveaway is designed to help local students begin the school year with confidence by providing free backpacks filled with essential school supplies. Thanks to the generosity of community members, local businesses, civic organizations, and volunteers, hundreds of students receive the tools they need to be successful in the classroom each year.
The Statesville Bookbag Giveaway happens this Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 11a-3p at the Statesville Event Center. Learn more here.
Winter Youth League Registration Opens August 1st
Get ready for winter sports! Registration for Youth Basketball and Youth Wrestling with Statesville Recreation & Economic Vitality opens Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Youth Basketball is available for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The league helps young athletes develop basketball skills, build confidence, practice teamwork and enjoy friendly competition.
Youth Wrestling is open to children in pre-K through eighth grade. Participants learn the fundamentals of wrestling while developing fitness, discipline and resilience in a supportive environment.

Aquatics Hours Change
As summer winds down, the Statesville Leisure Pool and Statesville Splash Pad will transition to reduced operating schedules.
Statesville Leisure Pool
- August 3–7: Late swim only from 4pm - 8pm
- August 8–September 6: Open on weekends only
- Saturday = Early swim from 11am - 3pm and late swim from 4pm - 8pm
- Sunday = One session from 2pm - 6pm
- Monday, September 7 (Labor Day): Early swim from 11am - 3pm and late swim from 4pm - 8pm
- Tuesday, September 8: Closed for the season
Statesville Splash Pad
- Beginning Saturday, August 8: Open Saturdays only from 10am - 2pm
- Monday, August 31: Closed for the season
Fall Adult Softball League Registration Opens August 12th
Ready to get back on the field? Registration for the Fall Adult Softball Leagues with Statesville Recreation & Economic Vitality opens Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Co-Ed and Men’s leagues are available for players of all skill levels.
Registration opens: Wednesday, August 12
Interest meeting: Wednesday, August 12 at 5:30pm at the Statesville Recreation Center
Team registration deadline: Monday, August 31 at 5pm
Team managers and representatives are encouraged to attend the interest meeting. No RSVP is required. Learn more about Adult Softball Leagues here.
Homeschool Programming Returns September 2nd
Homeschool Programming with Statesville Recreation & Economic Vitality returns this fall with engaging opportunities for two age groups:
- Homeschool Program: Activities for ages 5–12
- Homeschool Program Field Trips: Off-site experiences for ages 12–17
Upcoming activities include Nature Day, pickleball, rock climbing and field trips to Carrigan Farms, Serenity Alpacas and Lenoir-Rhyne University. Space is limited, and advance registration is required - don’t wait to reserve your student’s spot!

Stage D2 Extreme Drought Continues; Water Restrictions still in Effect

🔹Police Officer Recruit (Full-Time): This position is a recruiting and training-level job used for persons hired to learn the duties of a Police Officer with The City of Statesville Police Department. Individuals classified as a police recruit should meet all the essential job functions and qualifications of the police officer role with the exception of Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification. Incumbents in this job class undergo a formal, comprehensive program in BLET. Upon successful completion of BLET, individuals are promoted to a sworn police officer. Failure to graduate from BLET within the prescribed training period will be cause for termination (and may require repayment of BLET costs).
🔹Senior Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator - 4th Creek WWTP (Full-Time): This position is responsible for performing semi-skilled work in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant; responsible for leading, training, and instructing subordinate staff to improve efficiency of duties and operations.
