Blasting Activity Scheduled for Third Creek Sewer Project

As part of the ongoing Third Creek Sewer Project, the City of Statesville is notifying residents of upcoming blasting activity scheduled to begin Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at approximately 3 p.m.

Blasting is necessary to break through rock encountered during construction of the sewer line. Residents in surrounding areas may hear loud noises or feel vibrations during blasting operations.

Areas where blasting activity may be heard include the Briarwood East and West subdivisions, Flint Drive, Gilbert Road, Brandy Lane and Hickory Highway.

Blasting Schedule

Blasting is expected to occur Monday through Friday for approximately one to two months in the current work area. Only one blast is planned per day, during the following timeframes:

  • Monday through Thursday: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • Friday: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

These timeframes represent the anticipated windows for blasting activity, not continuous blasting throughout those hours.

No road closures or traffic disruptions are anticipated. Residents should avoid entering the designated construction right-of-way for their safety.

As part of the preparation process, the contractor's pre-blast survey company has mailed notification letters and conducted door-to-door outreach to residents within 500 feet of the blasting area.

The city will continue coordinating with the contractor as construction progresses and additional blasting needs are identified.
