Fiber Optic Installation Planned in the Wendover Area

The City of Statesville has approved a Right-of-Way Encroachment Permit for Ripple Fiber to install underground fiber optic conduit and cable in the Wendover area.

Federal regulations require public rights-of-way to be made available for utilities such as fiber optic infrastructure. The city’s role in this process is limited to permitting, inspection and oversight to ensure work is completed safely and restored properly. The city does not control construction schedules or promote specific service providers.

Work is scheduled to begin October 19, 2026, and is expected to be completed by November 24, 2026, weather and conditions permitting.

Construction will take place in multiple areas, and residents may notice work along the following streets: Deaton Street, Avalon Street, Alexander Street, North Miller Street, Wilson Street, Reid Street, North Oakland Street, Phoenix Street, Pearl Street, Melviney Street, Carney Lane, West Pine Circle, North Lackey Street, Ferndale Drive, Gray Street, Stewart Court, Yadkin Street, Wendover Road, Medlin Street, Waverly Place, Hedrick Circle and Birchcrest Drive.

During construction, residents and motorists may notice utility locate markings, construction crews and equipment working in the right-of-way, directional boring operations, and occasional lane shifts or brief traffic delays. Short-term access impacts may occur near active work zones. All disturbed areas will be restored in accordance with City standards.

Carolina Lighthouse, a subcontractor for Ripple Fiber, will be performing the work.
