Statesville Public Power Hosts Inaugural Key Accounts Breakfast

Statesville Public Power welcomed representatives from local businesses and industries to its inaugural Key Accounts Breakfast on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Statesville Event Center. The event provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships, share valuable resources, and recognize the important role these businesses play in the Statesville community.

Building Stronger Connections Through Public Power

Jared Wiles, Assistant Director of Statesville Public Power, welcomed attendees and opened the program before introducing Cody Leis, Director of Statesville Public Power.

Leis highlighted the value of public power and the importance of building strong relationships with the utility's key account customers.

For more than 135 years, Statesville Public Power has provided reliable electric service to the community. As North Carolina's oldest municipally owned electric utility, Statesville Public Power is community-owned, locally controlled, and committed to serving the needs of its customers.

Key accounts include some of Statesville's largest commercial, industrial, and institutional electric customers. These businesses play a significant role in the local economy by creating jobs, investing in the community, and contributing to the City's continued growth.

Leis also highlighted Statesville Public Power's Key Account Program and introduced Shannon Viera, Key Account and Economic Development Manager. Through this program, businesses have a direct point of contact to help with electric service questions, energy efficiency opportunities, utility planning, and connections to other City resources.

Connecting Businesses with Valuable Resources

Dale Odom, Manager of Retail Energy Services with ElectriCities of North Carolina, shared information about programs and services available to help businesses improve energy efficiency, manage costs, and support their operations.

Resources highlighted during the presentation included:

  • Commercial and industrial energy audits
  • Commercial and industrial rebate programs
  • Questline newsletters and educational resources
  • Networking opportunities
  • Infrared scanning services
  • Customer education events

These resources are available through ElectriCities and the City of Statesville to help businesses make informed decisions about their energy needs. Erika Martin, Planning Director for the City of Statesville, also provided attendees with an update on city projects, offering insight into ongoing development and initiatives shaping Statesville's future.
