City Council Meeting Highlights:

  • Mayor Kutteh proclaimed February as Black History Month. Todd Scott, President of the local branch of the NAACP, was on hand to accept the proclamation.   • Chief David Onley introduced five newly sworn officers – Brenna Geyer, Ethan Moreau, Devon Adams, Chavis Finger, and Carson Fleming LEARN MORE
  • Mayor Kutteh provided an update on the Green Street and Garfield Street historic area. He recognized Lisa Mozer and a group of citizens that were in attendance, and thanked Marci Sigmon who has provided numerous hours and excellent work on the project.
  • The ordinance to establish a “No Parking Zone” on the east side of S. Oak Street was postponed to the February 20 Council meeting to allow Chief Onley time to gather more information from citizens and Mitchell Community College.
  • Approved two new positions for the Statesville Regional Airport – Line Tech and Groundskeeper.
  • Approved funds for additional construction services for the Runway 10 Safety Area Improvement project at the airport.
  • Mayor Kutteh congratulated Bill Vaughan and his team for saving the City $40k by using the “piggyback” statute to replace an emergency bypass pump at the Third Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.
  • Approved an economic incentive grant for Water Tech, Inc. in the amount of $215,793 over five years. The proposed new facility of approximately 50,000 square feet, representing a $10.8 million investment and the creation of 26 new jobs, will be located near Taylorsville Highway and Deer Ridge Lane.  LEARN MORE
  • Approved a bid from RTS Water Solutions, LLC for competing the AMI water meter conversions.
  • Approved a contract from Country Boy Landscaping for the Earlwood Road Culvert Replacement and Sewer Relocation project.
