Statesville, NC – In a heartwarming start to 2024, Iredell Health System is proud to announce the arrival of its first baby of the New Year. The Birth Place team at Iredell Memorial Hospital welcomed a new bundle of joy on January 1.

Mother Keaira Clontz and father Khali Borders welcomed their daughter, Khyn’lee, into the world at 3:54 p.m. on New Year’s Day. Both Keaira and her beautiful baby girl are healthy and doing well. Khyn’lee was born 19 inches long, weighing six pounds, eight ounces.

Keira has six children, four of which she delivered at Iredell Memorial Hospital. “The doctors and nurses here are great, especially the ones in the operating room. Everybody at Iredell has been very helpful and nice and has really made me feel so comfortable,” said Kearia.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Khyn’lee as the first baby of the New Year. It’s a special moment for the family, and we are honored to be a part of this joyous occasion,” said Pam Speight, The Birth Place program nurse. The Birth Place staff welcomed the first baby of the year with a celebratory cake and flowers.
