Vietnam veteran Larry Druffel is leading efforts to support aging and disabled veterans through the Golden Corner Chapter of Purple Heart Homes. Serving Upstate South Carolina and parts of Georgia, this chapter focuses on making homes safer and more accessible with modifications such as ramps, widened doorways, and remodeled bathrooms. Druffel, a 20-year U.S. Air Force veteran, helped launch Purple Heart Homes’ national Chapter program to empower local veteran-led teams. With support from partners like the Fluor Foundation and Home Depot Foundation, along with dedicated volunteers, many of whom are veterans themselves, the chapter continues to grow and make a difference for those who served.
