Downtown Statesville Development Corporation Celebrates New Director and Board Members, Heralds Downtown Growth


New Board Members: Thomas Gregory, Kathy Vogel, Joaquin Jiminez and Timber Ralston

Statesville, NC - Downtown Statesville Development Corporation (DSDC) held its Annual Meeting on June 18th at the Statesville Civic Center located at 300 S. Center Street in Downtown Statesville. The following officers were introduced for 2025-2026: Trey Robertson of Bee and Barrel as Chairman, Doug Hendrix formerly of Blue Harbor Bank as Outgoing Chairman, Donald Hicks of the Statesville Housing Authority as Secretary, and Timber Ralston of Norris, Stewart & Ralston as Treasurer.

Four new Board Members were elected to three-year terms: Kathleen Vogel of Vogel Law, Timber Ralston, of Norris, Stewart, & Ralston, Joaquin Jiminez of Godspeed Development, and Thomas Gregory of Lake Norman Realty. The board also approved a second term for existing board members Kelli Simko Walker of 220 Café, Dean Wooten of Wooten Insurance, and John Childres of Banner Drug/Greenbriar Grill.

Outgoing Chairman Doug Hendrix opened the meeting by celebrating the volunteer spirit of the people of Statesville as well as thanking the current board and presenting awards to outgoing board members Emilio Lopez, Edwin Lierena, Stamey Holland, Joe Bondi, and Josh Speer.

Chairman Trey Robertson recognized the new board before handing the stage to the interim Executive Directors Michael and Diane Young, and incoming Executive Director Matthew Pierce to highlight and recognized achievements of the previous year including new businesses, expanded businesses,  businesses purchased, major downtown renovations, and downtown property purchased. The meeting featured David S. Maurer, AIA, President of Maurer Architecture, a firm that specializes in downtown and historic renovations, who delivered a talk entitled Economic Benefits of Downtown Housing.

Robertson closed the meeting on an optimistic note about the future of Statesville and Downtown Statesville’s role in that bright future. He thanked the City for partnering with DSDC to move Downtown and therefore the whole city into a new period of prosperity and thanked the assembly for the many hands and hours that each of them and every volunteer brings to the table to make Statesville a great place to work, live, worship, and play.
