President of Maurer Architecture
“Economic Benefits of Downtown Housing”

David Maurer, AIA, is president of Maurer Architecture, an award-winning firm in Raleigh that is committed to our downtowns and our historic architectural fabric.  Since 1993, David has led Maurer Architecture in completing numerous historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects across North Carolina, many utilizing historic tax credits. Since 2016, David has been working with many North Carolina towns and cities to encourage upper level residential development in their downtowns. He is also a frequent presenter at NC Main Street and NC State Historic Preservation Office training events and at conferences on various aspects of rehabilitating our downtowns and as a specialist with the NC Existing Building Code.

David is also president of TightLines Designs, an architecture firm specializing in designing quality affordable housing for those in need, including single family homes, multi-family senior and family developments, veteran projects, and disaster recovery housing. TightLines’ client base includes many Habitat affiliates, non-profit and for-profit developers, municipalities, and the State of NC.
