Mayor Hendrix Declares State of Emergency for the City of Statesville

January 23, 2026

Mayor Doug Hendrix has declared a State of Emergency for the City of Statesville in coordination with Iredell County’s emergency declaration as Winter Storm Fern approaches the area.

Winter Storm Fern has the potential to create hazardous conditions, including winter precipitation, ice, and dangerous travel conditions, which may pose risks to public safety, property, and essential services.

By issuing this declaration, the City formally adopts and aligns with the County’s State of Emergency, allowing emergency measures, restrictions, and response efforts to be implemented consistently across jurisdictions to help protect residents.

The declaration:

  • Applies within the corporate limits of the City of Statesville

  • Allows for emergency restrictions or protective actions if needed

  • Will remain in effect through Wednesday, January 28 at 5:00 PM

City officials continue to closely monitor weather conditions and are preparing crews and resources to respond as needed.

Residents are encouraged to:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel during hazardous conditions

  • Prepare for possible power outages

  • Stay informed through official City communication channels

Updates will be shared on the City website and social media platforms as conditions change.
