- Detour: East entrances to Iredell Memorial Hospital will be blocked. All patient and emergency vehicles must use the hospital entrance via Hartness Road.
These closures will directly impact businesses along Brookdale Drive, Iredell Memorial Hospital (including the Emergency Room entrance), and nearby medical offices. Drivers are encouraged to use Hartness Road from North Center Street to access the hospital and Emergency Room. Motorists traveling on I-40 are encouraged to use Exit 150 (Hwy 115/North Center Street) to reach Hartness Road instead of Exit 151 (Hwy 21/Sullivan Road). Northview Academy, located on Carolina Avenue N., will also experience changes to normal traffic flow for buses and car lines, so families should allow additional travel time.
Detour signage will be posted at all major turns to guide traffic safely around the work zones. Overhead signs on I-40 and digital message boards will provide hospital, school, and business access information. All schedules are weather-dependent. Dates marked TBD are subject to change and will be updated as soon as possible.
The Waterline Replacement Project will replace approximately 5.7 miles of aging cast iron waterlines, some installed in the 1940s, with new 12-inch and 20-inch lines. It will improve water service reliability, reduce the risk of breaks, and increase system efficiency. Work began in March 2025 and is expected to be completed by September 2026. This project represents a long-term investment in Statesville’s water infrastructure, ensuring reliable and efficient service for decades to come.
