National Park and Recreation Month

🎙️ Front & Center: Jets, Jobs & Runway - Inside the Business of Statesville Regional Airport

Step into the cockpit of Statesville's economic engine as Airport Manager John Ferguson takes us behind the scenes of one of North Carolina's busiest general aviation facilities. Far from being just a landing strip, the Statesville Regional Airport operates as a thriving enterprise that generates substantial revenue through fuel sales, hangar leases, and property taxes - all without costing taxpayers a dime.

Independence Day Holiday Closures

In observance of Independence Day, all City of Statesville offices will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2025.

Below is important information regarding city service adjustments and facility hours during the holiday week.

Sanitation Schedule Adjustments – Week of June 30 – July 4

• Residential Routes: Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Thursday, July 3. All other routes will be collected on the regularly scheduled day.
• Commercial Garbage Collection (roll-out toters or garbage containers): Thursday and Friday routes will be collected on Thursday, July 3. All other routes will be collected on the regularly scheduled day.

Facility Hours on July 4

• The Statesville Fitness & Activity Center and Statesville Civic Center will be closed.
• The Statesville Leisure Pool, Bentley Community Center, and Splash Pad will be open. Please visit www.statesvillenc.net/aquatics for information regarding admission and hours of operation.

Statesville ABC Store

• The Statesville ABC Store will be open on July 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

City Council Meeting

• The City Council will hold one regular meeting in July on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The meeting will include a public comment session.

Citywide School Supply Drive: End of Summer Bash

The City of Statesville continues its new citywide school supply drive to help students start the 2025–2026 school year with confidence!

From June 2 through July 18, residents can drop off donations at convenient locations across the city to support the End of Summer Bash, taking place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Harris Park. 

This is the City’s first coordinated drive of this kind and aims to provide fully stocked backpacks for local children in need, helping ease the financial burden on families and ensuring every student has the tools they need to succeed. Learn more here.

🔹 Police Officer (Full-Time): The position of Police Officer Recruit is a recruiting and training-level job used for persons hired to learn the duties of a Police Officer with The City of Statesville Police Department. Individuals classified as a police recruit would meet all of the essential job functions and qualifications of the police officer role with the exception of Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) certification. Incumbents in this job class undergo a formal, comprehensive program in BLET. Upon successful completion of the BLET certification course, individuals would then be promoted to a role as a sworn police officer for the City of Statesville.

🔹Public Utilities Deputy Director (Full-Time): This position is responsible for assisting in planning, programming, budgeting in-house design and review of consultant design; construction management; administration of capital improvement and maintenance and repair projects for the Public Utilities Department. This position is under the direct supervision of the Public Utilities Director.
