City of Statesville Holds Groundbreaking for Police Department Expansion and Parking Deck

City officials, staff, project partners, and members of the community gathered on Monday, June 16, to officially break ground on the Statesville Police Department Expansion and Parking Deck Project at 330 S. Tradd Street. The event marked the beginning of a major downtown initiative focused on enhancing public safety services and supporting future growth.

The expansion will bring all divisions of the Statesville Police Department under one roof, providing updated facilities and modern resources to improve service and operational efficiency. The six-level parking deck will support police operations, downtown visitors, and future apartment residents.

In partnership with the City, DELCO will fully fund and develop a new apartment complex on the site. The residential building will not use public funds and will contribute to the City's general fund and Downtown Municipal Service District. A public pocket park will be added in the final phase, creating new green space for downtown residents and visitors to enjoy.

“This project reflects our commitment to public safety and our vision for a vibrant downtown,” said Mayor Kutteh. “We appreciate everyone who joined us to mark this important milestone for Statesville.”

Construction is expected to continue through April 2027.
