Show Your Appreciation During National Waste and Recycling Workers Week June 16–24, 2025
National Waste and Recycling Workers Week is here, and the City of Statesville invites all residents to take a moment to recognize the hardworking men and women of our Sanitation Department.
These dedicated professionals work year-round to help keep Statesville clean, safe, and healthy by collecting and managing waste and recyclables, often in challenging conditions. Their efforts are essential to maintaining our quality of life and protecting the environment.
At the June 16 City Council meeting, Mayor Kutteh will formally honor the Sanitation Department with a proclamation recognizing their valuable contributions to our community. We encourage everyone to join us in celebrating them throughout the week!
How You Can Show Your Appreciation
Here are a few simple ways to say thank you:
- Greet your sanitation workers or leave a thank-you note on your trash or recycling cart.
- Leave bottled water or sports drinks with a note of appreciation on collection days.
- Share a message of thanks and tag the City so our workers can see your support.
- Place carts properly, bag trash securely, and keep areas around your carts clear.
Let’s make sure our Sanitation workers know how much we value their hard work and dedication – not just during this week, but every week.
