Preparing for Power Outages during Hurricane Season in Statesville

The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially began on June 1 and will end on November 30, 2025.

As we move into the hurricane season here in Statesville, North Carolina, it becomes crucial to prepare for potential power outages. While customers of #PublicPower in North Carolina generally experience fewer outages (39.3% less) compared to other power providers' customers, it's always wise to be ready for any unforeseen circumstances.

To ensure you're adequately prepared, we encourage citizens to take a moment to review a few essential items you should have on hand in case of a power outage here.

Annual Water & Electric Meter Inspections Begin June 2, 2025

The City of Statesville NC Meter Services Team will begin conducting annual inspections of water and electric meters starting Monday, June 2, 2025.

These inspections will include both residential and commercial properties within the city.

These inspections are mandatory and are part of our routine efforts to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our utility systems. No service outages will occur as a result of the inspections.

All Meter Services personnel will be easily identifiable by City of Statesville-branded clothing, official City IDs, and City vehicles.

Citywide School Supply Drive Launches for Statesville’s End of Summer Bash

The City of Statesville is kicking off a new citywide school supply drive to help students start the 2025–2026 school year with confidence!

From June 2 through July 18, residents can drop off donations at convenient locations across the city to support the End of Summer Bash, taking place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Harris Park. 

This is the City’s first coordinated drive of this kind and aims to provide fully stocked backpacks for local children in need, helping ease the financial burden on families and ensuring every student has the tools they need to succeed. Learn more here.

🔹 Police Officer (Full-Time): This position performs intermediate protective service work involving a variety of general or support duty police assignments; does related work as required. Work is performed under the supervision of Patrol Corporals and Sergeants.

🔹 Skilled Laborer / Landscaping - Parks Maintenance (Full-Time): This position is responsible for semi-skilled work in a variety of construction, maintenance and repair assignments involving the use of specialized tools and equipment within the City’s Recreation and Parks department.
