Summer is officially heating up in Statesville, and there’s no better way to soak it all in than with the Statesville Recreation & Parks Department! In the latest episode of 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫, hosts April and Nikayla are joined by H Patton and Chase Bell for an inside look at everything planned to keep you and your family active, entertained, and refreshed all season long.

Statesville Leisure Pool and Splash Pad Open on May 24, 2025

Splash Into Summer, Statesville!  💦  

Have you heard? The Statesville Leisure Pool (located next door to the Statesville Fitness & Activity Center) and the Splash Pad (located at the Bentley Community Center) will both open on Saturday, May 24, 2025!

Grab your swimsuits, sunscreen, and your sense of adventure — it’s time to make a splash! 🔗 Learn more here.

Memorial Day: Holiday Closings and Revised Sanitation Schedule

City of Statesville offices will be closed on Monday, May 26, 2025, in observance of Memorial Day. There will be no garbage collection on this day.

Revised schedule for residential sanitation routes for the week of May 26 – May 30:

  • Monday’s routes will be collected on Tuesday.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday's routes will be collected on Wednesday.
  • Thursday and Friday’s routes will operate on the regular schedule.

Revised schedule for commercial businesses with roll-out carts or garbage containers for the week of May 26 – May 31:

  • Monday and Tuesday’s routes will be collected on Tuesday.
  • Wednesday – Saturday’s routes will operate on the regular schedule.

The Statesville Fitness & Activity Center will be closed on Memorial Day.

The Leisure Pool, Splash Pad, and Bentley Community Center will be open. Visit recreation.statesvillenc.net/aquatics for information on admission and hours of operation.

This annual observance, instituted by the American Public Works Association (APWA) in 1960, serves as a public education campaign to highlight the vital role of public works in our communities. Citywide School Supply Drive Launches for Statesville’s End of Summer Bash

The City of Statesville is kicking off a new citywide school supply drive to help students start the 2025–2026 school year with confidence!

From June 2 through July 18, residents can drop off donations at convenient locations across the city to support the End of Summer Bash, taking place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Harris Park. 

This is the City’s first coordinated drive of this kind and aims to provide fully stocked backpacks for local children in need, helping ease the financial burden on families and ensuring every student has the tools they need to succeed. Learn more here.

🔹 Skilled Laborer (Landscaping & Custodial) - Water Treatment Plant (Full-Time): This position responsible for semi-skilled work in a variety of janitorial, landscaping, and repair assignments involving the use of specialized tools and equipment within the city’s water and wastewater treatment department.

🔹 Wastewater Operator Trainee (Full-Time, Night Shift 8p-8a): This position is responsible for learning all aspects of the operation and maintenance of the city’s wastewater treatment facilities; responsible for assisting certified wastewater control operators with duties and maintenance of the plant after successfully completing orientation and trainee instruction. This position is designed and set up for the progressive movement into a Certified Shift Operator position. Therefore, the candidate hired for this position will be the next staff member to fill the open shift when it becomes available.
