City of Statesville Responds to Aircraft Incident at Statesville Regional Airport

The Statesville Regional Airport has reopened.
The airport is now open and operational.
The City of Statesville and Statesville Regional Airport extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in Thursday’s crash. We remain mindful of this loss as our community continues to grieve.

Per the NC State Highway Patrol, the aircraft involved in the crash has been identified as a GBAviation Leasing aircraft. There are seven confirmed deceased occupants.
At this time, names cannot be released due to the post-crash fire. Identification is pending confirmation from the medical examiner.
It is believed that Greg Biffle was on board the aircraft; however, this information has not yet been officially confirmed.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will assume the investigation and is expected to be on scene tomorrow, Friday, December 19, 2025.
Additional information will be released by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) as it becomes available.

At approximately 10:15 a.m., an aircraft crashed while landing at Statesville Regional Airport.
Iredell County and the City of Statesville Emergency Response personnel are currently working the incident. Multiple agencies are responding, and Iredell County Emergency Communications (ECOM) is coordinating with on-scene personnel, including HazMat, EMS, Fire, Rescue, Emergency Management, the NC State Highway Patrol, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA arrived on scene at approximately 12:00 p.m. and will investigate the incident.
The VIPER State Events Channel has been requested and is currently being activated. The Atlanta Air Traffic Control Center has also been notified.
This remains an active incident. A short media briefing will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the front of the new Airport Terminal Building, located at 238 Airport Road.

We can confirm there has been an aircraft incident at the Statesville Regional Airport.
At approximately 10:15am, an aircraft crashed while landing. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is en route and will investigate the incident.
