Last Updated 1/10/2024Posted in News

Hello and Happy New Year from the United Way of Iredell County!!! We hope this message finds you well. As part of our ongoing commitment to recognizing the invaluable contributions of the volunteers in our community, we are excited to announce nominations are open for the 2024 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award!!

The Award is given out once a year to nominees selected by the Governor of North Carolina. Volunteers are the backbone of our community; dedicating their time, skills, and passion to support our mission.

The Governor’s Volunteer Service Award honors the true spirit of volunteerism by recognizing individuals, groups, and businesses that significantly contribute to their community through volunteer service. Any person, group, or entity from the public, non-profit and private sectors may be nominated for an award. There are categories for the type of nominee (senior, youth, faith-based, family, group, business, etc.).

Additional categories are based on the area of service (animal, environmental, disaster, youth, preservation, etc.). This year, our United Way will be coordinating this effort for Iredell County. Nominators need to fill out an application and provide references supporting their nominees and submit them to Linda Wahlberg at [email protected].

All qualified nominations will be reviewed by an award committee. Up to 10 Volunteers per county can be selected for submission for the Governor’s consideration. The deadline for nominations is fast approaching. All nominations must be submitted or post-dated no later than January 26th to be considered by the United Way of Iredell County’s award committee.

The selected awardees will be honored at a UWIC Volunteer Recognition Event later this year, where we will celebrate their achievements and express our gratitude for their unwavering support. Thank you for your continued dedication to your community and for recognizing the incredible contributions of our volunteers. Together, we make a difference!!
