New Members


Ambassadors


The Ambassadors are the “goodwill” arm of the Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce, under the direction of the Membership/Communications Division.  The Ambassador is a liaison between the Chamber staff, board and membership to keep the members informed of current and upcoming programs of the Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce.  The Ambassadors consist of volunteers from the Statesville area Chamber businesses, who call on new and existing members to explain Chamber programs and activities, represent the Chamber at all sponsored functions and develop an ongoing retention program with our current membership.

Ambassadors Mission Statement

 
Ambassadors consist of volunteers from Chamber member firms. This group volunteers their time to make personal visits that educate and involve new and existing members while promoting the programs of the Chamber Of Commerce. They also serve as good-will Ambassadors for the business community and the Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce.
 
OVERALL OBJECTIVES: To review member benefits and make recommendations to the appropriate Chamber Committees; to monitor and survey members evaluating quality of services and benefits; to educate, involve and promote the programs of the Chamber of Commerce to its membership and to actively prospect new members to the Chamber.
 
Ambassador responsibilities

  • Each member will be responsible for attending as many of the scheduled Ribbon-cutting/Grand Openings as your schedule will permit.  If you cannot attend a ribbon-cutting event, it is your responsibility to secure a replacement.

  • Ambassadors must have been employed a minimum of 6 months with their company to apply.  This allows consideration to the Member Company so their employee can become familiar with and settled into their new job, and gives applicants an opportunity to determine whether they will have the time to fulfill Ambassador responsibilities in addition to their employment obligations.

  • Ambassadors will help serve as hosts and hostesses for all major Chamber membership functions.  Ex. Visitation Day, Business After Hours, Business Before  Hours, Spellin’ Bee, Industrial Golf Outing, Business Trade Show and Annual Meeting.

  • Ambassadors are expected to attend all Business After/Before Hours and serve as public relation representatives of the Chamber.  Ambassadors will be responsible for “holding hands” with a new member, make the new member feel welcome and make appropriate introductions to other Chamber members whenever possible.

  • The Ambassadors will meet on a monthly basis for lunch on the first Wednesday of the month at 12:00 pm.  If you cannot attend, the Membership Director should be notified prior to the meeting. The Ambassador’s employer will be billed $30 quarterly for meals. Ambassadors are required to attend a minimum of 10 out of 12 monthly meetings.

  • Each Ambassador will serve either on the Business After/Before Hours OR the Retention Committee.

  • All Ambassadors will receive, on average, 5 retention contact sheets at each monthly meeting.  Calls should be made in person, if possible.  All retention sheets must be completed and turned in at or before the next regularly scheduled meeting.

  • New members will be assigned a ‘Personal Ambassador’ that will contact them a minimum of three times during their first year of membership.

The following is a description of the Committees within the Ambassadors.  As stated above, each Ambassador will serve on either the Business After/Before Hours or Retention Committee, and can choose to change committees at the beginning of each calendar year.

Executive Committee
 
This committee will consist of the Membership / Communication Vice President, Ambassador Chairman, Vice-Chair, Past Chair, Retention and Business After Hours Chairs.  The Executive Committee conducted by the Ambassadors’ Chairman, will meet quarterly to discuss administrative and other issues relating to the Ambassadors and their structure and/or function. This committee will be responsible for evaluating the progress of the
 
Ambassadors towards achieving established goals and altering course or changing focus if necessary.
 
Retention Committee
This committee’s primary function will be to assess and work to improve the Chamber’s Retention rate of our membership. Continually reviewing and adjusting the process of how we receive and deliver information to our members. Analyze the feedback necessary to best serve and protect the members’ investment. The Retention Committee will work actively to evaluate the success level of the retention program.  It will also develop and implement changes as needed to improve the quality and effectiveness of the program.
 
Business After/Before Hours Committee

This committee will be responsible for reviewing the process used for making Business After Hours successful and beneficial to our members. They assist in coordinating the event, suggesting games and/or door prizes.

Melissa Cruz, is the General Manager of the Candlewood Suites in Mooresville, NC. She is a sophisticated and proficient leader in the Hospitality and Tourism industry. For more than 13 years this proven leader has had the pleasure of working for hotel chains such as Marriott and Intercontinental Hotels Group. As a focused and driven leader, she oversees the day to day operations in and around the hotel. This includes budgeting, financial management, team building, staff development, planning and organizing all levels of hotel service (front office and housekeeping) and demonstrating and promoting a 100% commitment in providing the best possible experience for guests and employees. Her many attributes extend towards maximizing profits and steering the hotel to become the leading brand in the Mooresville area. Her passion and dedication to hospitality has been well received based on the numerous awards and accommodations she has earned over the years. Sandra Bortree has been a member of the Chamber since moving to Statesville with her husband, Paul, in 2000.  Sandra has been active in Ambassadors throughout that time, being elected Ambassador of the Year in 2005, 2006 and 2010.  Additionally, she has served two terms on the Chamber board and has chaired a Chamber Leads group for many years.
Sandra has also been President of Habitat Board of Iredell County and involved in a number of other organizations. 

She has been a Loan Officer for over 25 years helping clients with all their financing needs in North Carolina and Virginia.  NorthSide handles all types of loan programs including 100% USDA purchase along with conventional, FHA and VA.

In her spare time, she loves to scuba dive, work  in the garden, and travel with Paul.

Kristi Madison Pfeufer’s family business has been a member of the Chamber since their establishment in 1985.  Kristi is active with the Chamber Ambassadors and with other Chamber activities. 

Kristi has been a Realtor for over 18 years in Statesville.  Serving her clients professionally has always been her top priority.  She has served on the Board of the Charlotte Region Realtor Association, Iredell County Planning & Zoning Board, and was honored by her colleagues with Iredell County Realtor of the Year in 2004.  She is now the Broker in Charge of Doug Madison Realty where she continues to market and sell “The American Dream” and works side-by-side with her brothers, Matt and Jon, to continue the family business.

In her spare time, she loves to travel, camp, fish and spend time with her wonderful husband, Jude.

Anne Thornton Ellenburg has been a member of the Chamber since 1989.  Anne has been a part of the Ambassadors for many years and a part of the President’s Club prior to that. Additionally, she has served on the Chamber board as the Membership Chairman. Anne is a Past President of the Iredell Human Resource Association, Board Member of the Iredell County Partnership for Young Children, and regularly volunteers for the March of Dimes and United Way. Anne is also active in the Greater Statesville Rotary Club. She has been with Kelly Services for 23 years providing employment solutions to Iredell County and western North Carolina.  In her spare time, she loves the beach, and spending time with her grandchildren, Mason and Madison.

Fawn Combs has been a member of the Statesville Chamber of Commerce since she entered the real estate profession in 2007. She has enjoyed her time as an Ambassador and has found it a great way to get to know the many members of the Chamber.

 

Fawn has lived in Statesville for 28 years and raised two children here. She and her husband, Kevin, are active in the community, participating in Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, and other community organizations.

Janie Stikeleather, a life-long resident of Statesville, is the Marketing & Public Relations Director with Davis Regional Medical Center.  In that role, she directs all advertising and community relations for the hospital and affiliated physician practices.

 

Very active in the community, she has served for a number of years on The American Heart Association’s annual Heart Ball Committee.  In addition, she has been involved with March of Dimes for 20+ years, serving as past chair of the Western Carolina Division, Public Affairs Committee Chair, and member of March of Dimes state board.

 

A long-time chamber ambassador, she was named Ambassador of the Year in 2004.   She has served the chamber as chair of the Ambassador group and chair of Business After Hours committee.

 

Janie noted “As a volunteer with the Chamber, I have had the pleasure of welcoming newcomers and businesses to our area.  Not only has my chamber involvement helped strengthen and build relationships with these groups, it has allowed me to interact and build friendships with many wonderful people throughout our community.”

 

Janie and her husband Frank have two children and they reside in the northern part of the county.  She is a member of Concord Presbyterian where she is a former Elder, Youth Leader, and teacher.

Amanda Troutman is the Operations Supervisor of Statesville Distribution Services in Statesville, NC.  She is a strong leader for her company and oversees the day to day operations at their HKS location. With the acquisition of a second warehouse in 2013, Statesville Distribution operates over 250,000 square feet of warehousing space at their Statesville, NC locations and offers the full spectrum of distribution services, to include bar code technology, inventory management (our proprietary SDS Vision system that offers remote access), and 24-hour access.

As a proud graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College in 2004, Amanda received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management while playing softball. (Go Bears!)  As a young business woman, Amanda is one of our newest ambassadors and will embark in her new endeavor to grow her relations with fellow businesses in the area. She is very active in her community volunteering for non-profit organizations and promoting health and fitness. 

 In her spare time, you may catch her at the YMCA leading group fitness classes (Zumba) or personally training people.  She is also very active in softball and riding her motorcycle.  She has a younger brother who is special needs and she devotes her time in helping him develop for life endeavors.
