    Event Description:
    What is Juneteenth?

It was on June 19th, 1865 that Union Soldiers led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, TX with the news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.
Juneteenth celebrates African American Freedom and achievement while encouraging continuous self-development and respect for all cultures.  Every year Juneteenth is celebrated by all cultures nationwide as a reminder never to forget where we came from and commemorate the freedom of African Americans.
