    Event Description:
    The Lake Norman and Statesville Chambers of Commerce will be hosting a candidates' training program for individuals interested in future elected office.   The Institute of Political Leadership is an introduction to campaigning for state, local and state office.  The program is intended to assist civic-minded citizens considering public office to campaign in an ethical and effective manner.   
    Three sessions:
     
    4/29 - Laying the Groundwork for your Campaign - This class will feature dialog with individuals who serve(d) in elected positions as well as a presentation by Dr. Susan Roberts (Davidson College) on Campaign Ethics.

    5/13 - Communication - Participants will have an opportunity to record a thirsty second radio advertisement (to be critiqued and modified) as well as participate in a mock radio interview.

    5/20  - Nuts and Bolts - Participants will focus on specific details on filing for office including fundraising, polling, voter trends, financing, filing and turnout.

    April 29 - will be at the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce,  19900 W. Catawba Avenue, Cornelius, NC 28031

    May 13 - will be at the studios of WSIC radio, 117 Radio Road, Statesville, NC  28677

    May  20 - will be held at the Statesville Civic Center, 300 South Center Street, Statesville, NC  28677
